Nearing the End of ANOTHER Month

I woke up this morning and shouted "Holy scmoly, what happened to January"?

Like most of you, we celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Erin Eberhart, from Eberhart's Explorers offered this great freebie from her TPT store {get it here}
I was in a goal planning meeting that morning.  So, I didn't get pictures of the other activities she offers in her packet...they are fun and the kids learn so much!  Thanks Erin for sharing!!!

We spent the rest of the week learning about Penguins.  We made this fun little book from Kim Jordano's {aka KinderByKim} SightWord Books {love, lOvE, LOVE, her books}

We spent Friday morning with our 4th Grade Reading Buddies working on Non-fiction books.  Each Kinder and Buddy had a non-fiction {arctic or antarctic book, a clip board, and pencil}.  They read elbow to elbow and knee to knee.  Then they had to go through and pick out and write four facts that were learned.  The Buddies are only reading and assisting the Kinders as they complete the writing. You can find the form and a WHOLE LOT more in Deanna Jump's Penguins Math and Literacy Unit on TPT.

We discussed what penguins CAN do.  They completed this writing page and cut the corresponding picture to glue next to the sentence.  I have had these pictures for years and am not sure where I found them.  If you know, please let me know so I can give credit to the rightful owner.

They painted their penguins one day, then cut and measured with "ice cubes" we also refer to these as unifix cubes.

Fantastic Kindergarten Art Work
Mrs. Bright is an incredible art teacher!  She pulls the artist out of all the kids in our school.  I tried to create a page specifically for her on my blog {with out luck....obviously}.  But I will continue to work on this.  If you know how to add a page, please, please, please do share.

Kinder Kandinsky

Vincent Van Gogh
{rough draft}
The final product is hanging in the main hall - that's how good they turned out!

Well, friends.  This post was long, so thank you for reading all the way to the end.  I hope you have enjoyed the little bit of January that we have had.

  2. So glad I'm not the only one that thinks that at the end of the month!!!

    To add pages to the top of your blog:
    If you go into your blog homepage when you are signed in, you should see a little pencil looking icon that lets you create a new post. Next to it is a little paper icon and next to it is an arrow pointing down - click on it to get a drop down menu. Then you click "pages" and then add a "new page". You can title it whatever you want and then can add the awesome pictures from your Art Teacher's lessons...

    I hope that's what you meant...otherwise please ignore this comment haha!!
